Live Art

Live art is the raw manifestation of my painting practice. These works are created extremely quickly in front of a live audience, sometimes 1,000 people or more! I perform at concerts with live music as well as private events such as fundraisers or parties.

The necessity of painting quickly morphs the visual language into a more graphic art than my rendered studio pieces. This unique style is the hallmark of my live paintings.

Live painting in front of an audience from start to finish.

Set up next to the stage, live-painting engages the audience with visuals that compliment the energy and themes of the performing musicians.

Whether it’s references to the lyrical content, the bands name, or even unique aspects of the venue, each live-painting captures the essence of the time and place that it’s created.

Aside from priming the panel in the studio, the painting is made entirely on site during the duration of the event. Each painting is a completely one-of-a-kind memento of a night of music and fun.

The finished painting is then varnished and made ready for installation in the studio.

A protective clear varnish is applied to the surface of the painting. The sides of the panel are painted with a semi-gloss black to highlight the surface image and provide a protective coating.

Hanging hardware and a rubber-coated hanging wire are installed on the back of the panel as well as felt stoppers to protect the wall on which the painting is installed.

The title of the painting, the artist’s signature, the name of the band and the venue, and the show’s date are all inscribed on the back of the panel.
